Filing a takedown notice
A valid notice under §512(c)(3) must include:
- Identification of the copyrighted work you claim is infringed (or a representative list).
- Identification of the allegedly infringing material and information reasonably sufficient for us to locate it (URL or project reference).
- Your name, address, telephone number, and email.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
We remove or disable access to material identified in a valid notice expeditiously, and notify the user who stored it.
Counter-notice
If your content was removed and you believe it was a mistake or misidentification, send a counter-notice with: your signature; identification of the removed material and its prior location; a statement under penalty of perjury of good-faith belief in the mistake; your name, address, and telephone number; and consent to the jurisdiction of your local federal district court (or, outside the US, any judicial district in which we may be found). Unless the original claimant files a court action, removed material may be restored in 10–14 business days.
Repeat infringers
VINC terminates, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users who are repeat infringers. Strikes are logged per account and the policy is enforced, not decorative.
